BCS Exam details || government job exam

 What is BCS exam?

  • BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service) is an exam process for appointing government employees in different job sectors. Almost all of the fast-class and some of the second-class government officers get their jobs through this competitive exam process. The BCS exam is organised by the BPSC (Bangladesh Public Service Commission).

BCS exam steps:

Generaally BCS exam complete with 3 step.
1. preliminary examination
2. Written exam
3. Viva exam

  1. Preliminary examination: At frist all of Bangladeshi students who complete thier Bsc. examination with minimum CGP-3 can participate in BCS preliminary examination. Total marks of preliminary examination is 200 . Total 200 marks comes from 10 deferent topics. The preliminarily examination marks will be same for the general cadre and also for the technical/Profession cadre.

2. Written exam :

From the preliminary examination merit list frist nine times more of vacant seats, students can participate in a written exam. The total marks of the written exam are 900 for general cadres. But the candidates who apply for the technical/Profession cadre and who will apply for both cadre should give an extra 200 marks examination on their BSc subjects. So, the candidates who apply for the technical/Profession cadre and who apply for both cadres will give exam in 1100 marks. The minimum pass mark is 40%. If any student fails in any subject, he will get a 0 on this subject. The total pass mark is 450. A student who applies for general cadre must get 450 marks within 900 marks to pass the BCS written exam.


3. Viva exam :

All of the student who pass written exam can participate in  viva exam.


Final merit list will be announced  considering the written and viva exam. Preliminary examination marks consider only for giving written exam.


BCS Cadre List : There are total 27 types of cadre in BCS exam. From this 11 are general cadre and other 16 for the technical cadre.

  7. Bangladesh Civil Service (Economic) 
  8. Bangladesh Civil Service (Family Planning)
  9. Bangladesh Civil Service (Police)
  10. Bangladesh Civil Service (Postal)
  11. Bangladesh Civil Service (tax)
Other 16 technical/professional cadres are :

  1. Bangladesh Civil Service (Agriculture)
  2. Bangladesh Civil Service (Livestock)
  3. Bangladesh Civil Service (Fisheries)
  4. Bangladesh Civil Service (Food)
  5. Bangladesh Civil Service (Forest)
  6. Bangladesh Civil Service (General Education)
